"A pox on you!"

To celebrate the day dedicated to Saint Roch, who was historically invoked against the plague, visitors can take a guided tour of the museum, discovering the secrets of the herbs with antiseptic and antibacterial properties and the alembics and distillers used to prepare "fiery water", seen as a panacea for all ills, above all against the divine "plague".

The essences on display in the beautifully decorated rooms of the Aboca Museum tell the story of the methods employed in order to stave off the great epidemics of the past - the plague, typhus and smallpox - including the use of humble local herbs.

After visiting the exhibition, guests can take a journey through the world of urban botany, discovering the tenacious, hardy herbs that grow in the walls of houses or between the cracks in the pavement and which have hidden healing properties.
