Bourbon del Monte Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings that adorn the city.
It’s the XVI century. Giuliano da Sangallo, commissioned by Lorenzo il Magnifico, gives to the city of Sansepolcro new walls and fortifications when the town passes under the control of the Florence Republic after the Battle of Anghiari (1440).
From that moment starts the construction of the most beautiful palaces tha still grace the city. Bourbon del Monte Palace is one of them.
The Renaissance residence, built at the end of the XVIIth century, has been the house of the Bourbon del Monte Marquisis for an entire century. With its seventeenth-century facade, standed next to the church of San Rocco, the palace is the result of several different constructions built on medieval foundations, some traces of which can still be seen in the cellars as well as in the Torre del Catolino.
