KNOOP Iohann Hermann - Holland - 1700 - 1779

KNOOP Iohann Hermann Johann Hermann Knoop was born in Kassel and became a famous gardener at the court in Marienberg. This permitted him to research and introduce numerous original varieties in his rich garden. Botanical Interests: The volume contains a survey of pomology and one of dendrology, classical themes of the era. The 39 delicate, hand-colored, copper engraved plates are interesting and faithfully describe, in form and color, apples, pears and other fruits. The notable variety of species treated distinguishes this work from the typical “pomologies” of the period.
